A Comprehensive Study of the Budikdamber Method in Urban Farming
ABSTRACT
In the face of rapid urbanization and its accompanying challenges, innovative agricultural practices are emerging as viable solutions to address food security, environmental sustainability, and resource efficiency. One such method is the Budikdamber (Budidaya-Ember), a small-scale aquaponic farming technique developed in Indonesia. This method combines aquaculture and hydroponics to create a symbiotic relationship between fish and plants, allowing urban dwellers to produce both fish and vegetables in small, confined spaces. This research aims to examine the Budikdamber method’s principles, benefits, challenges, and its potential for sustainable urban agriculture, contributing to the global conversation on food security in cities.
